Dry Eyes – Not Enough Lubrication or Moisture

Dry eyes are a direct result of not having enough natural lubrication and moisture in the eye.  This type of eye problem is somewhat common, especially in people wearing contact lenses. The results of dry eye can be an annoyance to a severe infection.  The eye doctor can perform tests to see if you have these particular eye problems.

Eye Dryness – Can Come From Over stimulated Tear Ducts

You can even have watery eyes that are a direct result of the dry eye syndrome.  The excessive eye dryness problem results in over stimulation of the tear ducts.  Dry eye can have several causes.  Menopause or natural aging is one.  Anti-depressants or birth control pills could be another. Home or office air conditioning and heating can dry out the eyes as can staring at a computer screen all day because you haven’t blinked enough. This problem may not be a curable condition.  There are a few medications that you can try and you might try sunglasses if being outdoors is a cause.  Consult the doctor, and be sure to tell your surgeon if you have a dry eye problem before you consider laser eye surgery.
